well, i apologize for promising you a rad update and then never delivering it. what a jerk i can be sometimes.
i just moved into a new place and am trying to get everything squared away. that, plus working on mopeds for motomatic, developing crazy race tech for next year’s polini cup and having a super slightly more active social life due to the move into midtown sacramento have left this poor ciao blog neglected for far too long.
nate, rafter and i are just about to head to a machine shop, though, so hopefully tonight once i get home i can finally show you some pictures from the last polini cup and talk about things to come for little ciaociao.
soon my pretties, soon
almost a month since you’ve heard from me! well, the racing and rally season is over, for me at least, and so you should be seeing more out of me here pretty soon.
i had an awesome time at the last polini cup race. i’ll tell you about it and show you some pictures soon!
i’ve got some rad stories about my spectacular fail 2 laps from the finish in the last race, winning some money, crashing for pretty much the first time all season (three times!).. it was an awesome weekend.
more soon!
i can’t find my damn camera!
the next race is two weeks away and i’ve got some things going on. bigger carb, fixing my pipe, new not-sticky throttle. some lame little stuff and some rad big stuff.
i’ll see what i can do about getting photos!
after this last race, i don’t plan on really riding this thing much for a while, so i think it’s time to tear it down and finally paint the fucker. i’ve said that before, though, so we’ll see.
tommy’s been waiting forever for me to paint my wheels.
everyone’s hounding me to update this thing! haha.
i’ve been putting it off because i STILL can’t find my stupid camera.. and i don’t know about you, but i really hate moped blogs that are super wordy with no pictures.
i’m going to dig around in my boxes and suitcases today until i find it, i’ll make it my mission since i think i’m stuck in my room all day anyway. everyone got sick this last weekend and i guess it’s my turn. summerbummer.
hopefully real update soon! in the mean time, here are a few pictures i stole of me and ciaociao at the races. i got 5th in the first race and 4th in the second. poor ciaociao’s just not fast enough to keep up with motomatic and jeff’s derbi in the straights. not yet anyway!

i totally forget who i stole the photos from, but i’m pretty sure you read this blog sometimes. email me or leave a comment and i’ll give you proper credit! they good photo, mister.
if i can get my hands on a camera in the next couple days, i’ve got some things to show you guys. mine is lost somewhere in all the crap i haven’t unpacked from moving.
this weekend is polini cup #4! i have a LOT of work to do to my ciao before it’s ready! gaah! that’s ok, i’m sure i’ll get it together on time.
things i want to show you;
-my variator mods.
-how i cut the crap out of my kit. i hope i didn’t destroy it!
-crappy fork brace i made.
-other stuff.
i’m going to look around for my camera more tonight before i hit the sack.
stay tuned?

figured i’d do a quick update. i’m keeping magnomos on the back burner and just concentrating on ciaociao for now. i’ve new forks on the way, some cutting and possibly some welding is in store, maaaybe ciaociao will finally get a cute paint/powder job.. lots of stuff coming up. that is all, carry on.

i’m going to start pulling apart ciaociao today! gotta get it atwater ready!
here’s a horrible cellphone picture of the two ciaos sitting out front of tim and sara’s garage.

i’m going to take pictures of everything i’m doing, so look forward to seeing all that soon!
being as ciaociao is currently my only running bike that would be rally worthy (green ciao runs great and is super pretty, but it goes 25mph), i decided to take it to the portland rally.
other than another shredded belt (which was expected, i even brought a spare) it ran great the entire rally!
of course ciaociao is never jetted right, and i still haven’t really messed with the variator after porting it to get all of my low end back, but it was fun, fast and super reliable all weekend long!
i was still running low air pressure in my tires from atwater, so it handled super good in the corners. this rally was filled with corners!
and i got paced by a friend on his yamaha motorcycle at 63mph. i’d like to gps confirm that one day, but he swears his speedo is accurate.
now i am ready to tear the motor apart again and finish porting it. once i do that i will tune the variator and i should get my take off back. don’t get me wrong, it still takes off pretty quick, but not as quick as it did before i did the exhaust port.
there miiiiiight be a motomatic pipe in store for ciaociao in the future.. nate said if i were to join the motomatic race team i would get a free pipe, but i don’t know if he was being serious. besides, i’m not giving up on hry just because i moved to sacramento! if those guys up in seattle stay serious and want to keep going to races, i’ll stick with them!
anyway, that’s it for now. atwater is in a few weeks, so i have to get busy!
ciaociao is already down in sacramento waiting for me, i left it there after the reno rally.
by the way, my “reliable” bike seized a main bearing at the reno rally, so i did the rest of it on ciao and ciao had no issues whatsoever! it has became my most reliable moped!
the belts i ordered from malossi direct showed up, plus the one from treats i’ve been carrying around with me, i should be good on belts for a little while. those malossi belts are awesome, but the shred apart after a while. the one i’m currently running is starting to fray a little, so i think i’ll be replacing it soon.
i also need to pull the carb off the intake plate and put some loctite on the threads of the mounting bolts, the carb likes to start to wiggle loose after a while. it doesn’t even seem to notice the air leaks, but it’s something that needs to be addressed.
anyway, more to come when i’m in sacramento! goodbye for now, seattle!
